William McKinley, 25th president of the Untied States was assassinated on September 5th, 1901. He was assassinated while at an engagement to meet the public by Leon Czolgosz. He was shot twice, the first grazing his shouldder with the second lodging itself in his stomach. Doctors easily removed the first, however doctors had trouble locating the second, and decided to leave it in. McKinley appeared to be recovering, but 8 days later he suddenly got worse and died from gangrene. Czolgosz was put to death a little over a month later.
